Surprise!

**These next few posts may be pretty boring to everyone, but time has truly escaped me again and I need to do some catch up for my own memories.**

Robbie and I decided at the end of October it was time to start a family...we were more than a little surprised that it happened so fast!!!

February 4th, everyone was bugging me to take a test because of some feelings I was having. But, I thought it was a waste of time since I had JUST been to the doctor the week before!! So imagine my surprise when, at 11pm, home by myself...I "think" I see two lines!! I called Robbie at work (lame, I know but I couldn't keep it in)...and said, "Umm I think this test may be saying positive but I'm not sure". He's like HUH?!?! He tried to be sweet and say "oh i'll pick up some more on the way home tonight"....ugh sorry I couldn't wait TWO MORE HOURS!!!! So I ran out by myself to WalMart to get some more haha. And 6 tests later, I was shaking!!

We were both so excited, but so nervous!!! The next night was my friend Kristin's bachelorette party and how awkard.......I had to keep it a secret of course because it was SO NEW and couldn't have anything to drink, which looked obvious probably but oh well.

Our first doctor appointment was scheduled for February 17th! What a long wait!!! That morning, I was sooo nervous. I have never been afraid of the dr before, so that must come with the territory of pregnancy ;) And THIS is what has made me nervous ever since - they drew my blood that day...and about 3 seconds after she took the needle out, I passed out! First time EVER in my life. I have never had good veins, they are way down deep, but to PASS OUT?! Ugh. So embarrassing. So they went to get Robbie and he said I was white as a ghost and looked petrified! We then saw the doctor briefly, who did a quick ultrasound and couldn't really get a good pic of the baby...which had us all worried. So we rescheduled to come back on that Monday to have a "big ultrasound". Talk about a stressful weekend!!! Luckily, Monday afternoon, everything looked great and we were 6 weeks along!! So I still had 6 more weeks of keeping this a secret...hmmm....

Baby's first picture at 6 weeks!

My sweet in-laws sent me these flowers when they heard the news!!

Superbowl!!

Wow, sorry for the delay in posting!!! I have just been exhausted and work has been busy and I just have not felt like updating!!! So excuse me while we go back in time a little.

Superbowl Sunday, we had a small party at our house! I'm not a huge football fan, but a certain husband of mine IS, so I definitely didn't mind having friends over to entertain me LOL!!

We had to take down the smoke detector because it kept going off since the oven was so hot for the wings!!

Tons of chili and wings cooking away!!!

Ashley and I getting ready to cook!

Proof that I DO cook!!!!

Robbie's favorite!!! WINGS!

Ashley made yummy buffalo chicken dip!

We had a great time hanging out with everyone!!!

One of those days...

Have you ever had a day where you thought everything was going to be just wonderful...and then realize God has other plans for you!? Today was my day.

It started out great! I went to work....had a good morning....Robbie put Chicken Taco Chili in the CrockPot this morning...came home and visited with him for lunch...then had another great afternoon at work. Sounds great, right??

When I pulled out of the parking lot at 5:30, I heard a loud noise and a flapping sound. I really thought it might be an airplane since I work right beside the airport. So I turned down my music and really listened. Then my car started pulling to the right. I thought "ohemgee do I have a flat tire?!" Luckily I hadn't turned onto the interstate, so I pulled over in the Hilton parking lot, praying the tire would hold on. I called Robbie, got out and checked the car - the tire was indeed flat. As in pancake. I didn't know what to do!! We let our AAA expire (of course) and I was in the Honda (so no OnStar) AND you already KNOW I'm not getting dirty! So I called Colony Tire since we just bought the tires a couple months ago. I think I must have scared the poor guy because he said "Ma'am don't hang up, I'm going to get help, stay on the line". He then comes back and tells me he's sending someone out to change my tire. Whew, thank the Lord!!! I was getting scared now because it was getting dark and I was the only car around!

The nice guy gets there and puts my donut on and wouldn't you know it, he couldn't get enough air into it so he said it wasn't safe for me to drive on the interstate AKA my only way home!!! Sooo he follows me to Sheetz and guess what?! The air machine is out of order. This is a joke!! So he leaves because he is way off the clock, and Robbie comes to meet me to put in air in my tire. Yes, I am such a girl that I do not know how to do these things...nor do I want to!!! Thank you very much :)

So my sweet co-worker Gayle is going to meet me at Colony Tire in the morning before work so I can drop my car off. Please pray that I can report good news AKA they don't charge me an arm and a leg. Even though this was a HUGE pain and disrupted my evening, I am so thankful that it didn't happen on the interstate and it is something so small as a tire compared to what others are dealing with. Oh by the way -- incase you wanted to know what was IN the tire --- a razor blade!!!! Of course my dad is freaking out someone did it on purpose...but there is no way!!! We have a lot of construction going on in and around our neighborhood, and I park my car in our small parking lot at work right outside someone's window.

How's that for drama?!

Wonderful Sunday!

Let me start this post by saying what wonderful weather we are having in Raleigh!!! It has been sunny and warm for the past two days, and we are loving it!!

Today we went to church at Providence Baptist. We loved it! It is not as traditional as what we grew up with, but we really liked the feeling of it. We were so privileged to finally meet Laura, Caleb, Grace Elizabeth and Eleanor! I have been reading Laura's blog for about a year and a half and have always thought to myself how adorable her children are, and how I wish we could be friends in "real life". Well, we have been emailing each other for the past few months and kept saying we would meet up but neither of us really could find the time. I promised when Robbie had a Sunday off we would come to church!! So this weekend he finally did. We sat with them during the service and then met their two sweet girls!!! They invited us to lunch, McAllister's at North Hills (yum!!!) and we had a great time getting to know each other.

Robbie and I are so thankful we've met the fun Robinson's and hope to see them again soon!!!!

BFF Date Night

Last night, Robbie and I headed over to Ashley and Willie's for a low-key date night and to get our hair done by our fave stylist!! ;) I can always tell when it is time to get my hair done because people at work start making fun of my roots hahaha!! We started with fixing dinner. We ordered pizza and Willie fixed a great salad bar so we could make our own salads to go along with it. Yum!!!
Then it was time to start my hair. I get my hair colored (gasp!) and have to sit and wait for the color to set in. Of course I prefer this over the other method -- Ashley used to stick me under a dryer and I always complained because I couldn't hear everyone talking, haha!!
While that processed, Robbie and Willie watched TV and basically ignored us. (Just kidding!!)

After my haircut, it was Robbie's turn!! Man, did he need it!
Hairdresser gone crazy!!!! ;)

Ashley was trying to give my hair volume and I have a sensitive
scalp, so I was being dramatic and saying it hurt!

Still complaining

Finished product!!! MUCH better!
We love hanging out with Ashley and Willie, and love that we can both get our hair done by our trusted bff!!!

Whirlwind Weekend

This past weekend Robbie and I went home to Elizabeth City for another fast-paced weekend there. Everytime we go home, we never get to relax, because there is always sooo much going on. This particular weekend was a whirlwind of emotions for me. I was so excited that Robbie actually had Saturday and Sunday off so he was able to go with me!

Saturday morning, we rose at 5:30 (I can't even remember the last time I've gotten up that early) and picked my mom up and left for Elizabeth City. We had to go to Moyock to Robbie's parents house to drop Riley off before going back to town. So we made it there by 9:45 and headed back to EC.

The first part of the trip was a very sad occasion. We were attending the memorial service of a very special man; my good friend Rich's dad. He was so young. But the service was very nice and uplifting. My mom, Robbie and I had the privelege of sitting with the family during the service and then attending the luncheon held afterwards. It was all a very nice tribute to Rick's life.

The second part was a happy occasion!!! One of my best friends of our whole life, Kristin, is getting married in March. We lived 20 minutes apart for our whole college career (well our whole lives really) and often met for dinner and shopping. Now, she lives in Texas with her fiance. :( So I was very excited to be able to go home for her bridal shower!! Robbie went to his brothers house to have guy time while Mama and I headed to the shower. It was very nice and she got lots of great things!!! I always love seeing her, her mama and her Gran. :) I am so excited for her bachelorette party in 2 weeks!!

The final part of the day was seeing the sweetest baby, Conner!!!! And his mom and dad, of course! We met Shelley and Brandon at Cypress Creek for dinner. It was delicious! They have the best crab dip in the world. I just *have* to have it everytime we go there. Robbie had a yummy pork tenderloin and I had the steak and shrimp special. It was so delicious. I loved hanging out with Shelley (who is hilarious) and Brandon, and especially Conner!! He is so cute!!
Cutie pie!

He is now loving "drinking" water out of a straw!

G-Dad Robbie loves him too! ;)

So sweet!!
After dinner, we headed back to my in-laws house to spend the night. We slept in on Sunday morning and it felt great. After a leisurely morning, we took my mother-in-law and mama out to lunch for Mexican, and then headed back to Raleigh to enjoy dinner with my sister, Ashley and Willie at Tribeca Tavern - yum!!!

Girl Talk

Last week, my good friend Courtney came over to our house and we decided that instead of going out, we would cook! Everyone who knows me knows that cooking is not my strong point, nor do I want it to be, but I was up for the challenge. We picked a recipe off of Gina's Skinny Recipes, a blog dedicated to Weight Watcher recipes. The recipe for the yummy Chicken Pot Pie Soup can be found here. It wasn't a very hard recipe to follow and the end result was verrrry good!!! Definitely make sure you add some salt though ;) Another favorite of ours from her website is the Santa Fe Chicken.

So Courtney and I had a great time catching up on everything in our lives. She ended up staying until after her bedtime ;) but I really enjoyed it!!! We need to do it again soon!
