He'll Find You In The Hurricane...

Have y'all heard the new song "Hurricane" by Natalie Grant? I am including the video below, sorry it's way down there but I couldn't figure out how to move it LOL! Anyway, I listen to K Love radio and they play it pretty often. It is THE prettiest song and really speaks to me.

I am not a theologian in any sense of the word; shoot, I am still in the beginner stages of learning the Bible and all it means. But when I hear this song, I think of the passage in Matthew when Jesus walked toward his disciples on the water. There was a storm all around them, and Jesus could have easily caused the storm to end, but instead, wanted the disciples to trust in him and came to them in the storm.

Matthew 14:22-33

New International Version (NIV)

Jesus Walks on the Water

22 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. 23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, 24 and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.

25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.
27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
29 “Come,” he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
32 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down.33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” (biblegateway.com)

A common misconception with Christianity is, nothing bad will happen to you. Wouldn't that be great? But the truth is, the Bible tells us in John 16:33, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Well that basically tells us that we will have troubles, but if we are trusting in Jesus, we will overcome! He is always with us!!

If you are going through a hurricane, reach out to Him! He promises that he will never leave or forsake us, even in times where it may totally feel like it.  Just trust him, and you will feel such Peace, and it can get you through the hurricanes.

Says it all!
