This year, Robbie and I have vowed to spend more time together as a couple. We LOVE William of course, but in the first year of his life, we kinda forgot about "us" a little bit. So, we have been having weekly date nights and just trying to get/stay more connected than ever. Robbie ended up having a Sunday and a Monday off at the beginning of March, so we jumped on the opportunity to go away for a quick trip. I have never left William overnight before, but I knew he'd be fine. Mama and Hannah agreed to stay at our house with him, and I am sure he was much happier with them than us anyway. ;)
After Sunday school/church, we had lunch with our sweet friends,
Laura and Caleb and their 3 precious girls! We went to Dickey's BBQ since kids eat free on Sundays! ;) After lunch, we said our goodbyes, and Robbie and I were off to Greensboro! Why Greensboro?? Well, we wanted to get out of Raleigh, but not go far since it was only for one night. Neither of us had ever been there, so we figured it would be fun. So after consulting with
Ashlee, who lives there, we knew we had a few fun spots to try! I have been reading Ashlee's blog for a couple years, and we are Facebook friends, but after this trip, we are "real life" friends, haha!!

Lucy was too funny! She took the cone right from Laura and ate the whole thing! Too cute! |
We got into town around 3:30. We had a few minutes before we were going to meet Ashlee so we checked into the hotel and changed clothes. We drove across town and met Ashlee, Jereme, and their two adorable girls, Emma Grace and Caroline, at a delish bakery, Maxie B's. It always makes me laugh to meet people in person that I've been reading about forever. Haha! We had a great time sitting there talking for almost two hours! Maxie B's was the neatest place. The line was out.the.door. We waited in line about 30 minutes. There were about 30 different cakes! I went simple and got birthday cake, Robbie got a key lime cupcake. They were so delicious! After many recommendations from Ashlee and Jereme, we decided on Harper's Restaurant for dinner. It was really good! We then explored a little bit, shopped around, then went to a LATE movie (9:45!!! ;)) to see Safe Haven. It was soooo good!! Before we went in the movies, we FaceTimed with William to tell him goodnight. Technology is so great!

Telling W goodnight! |
Monday morning, we didn't wake up until 9! It was so nice to sleep, and not have to rush out of bed to make breakfast! Robbie made us coffee, and we just relaxed and got ready. We didn't leave our hotel until 12! We tried another restaurant recommendation, Wolfgang Puck's Pizza Bar. DELICIOUS! I had the BBQ Chicken pizza and Robbie had a Spare Rib pizza with broccoli rabe. We also shared garlic bread. It was all delicious. The manager told us Raleigh is supposed to get one, so we can't wait! After lunch, we shopped around. We went to a children's store and got William a few outfits, a Christian bookstore, and a couple shops for me. I scored a new cute phone cover and a bracelet! We decided to head back to Maxie B's and get some cake to go. We shared the 7-Up cake. It was SO good!!! On the way home, we stopped in Burlington to look at the shops there. We saw a Hobby Lobby, and I just had to go in! I always read about other bloggers shopping there and finding the cutest stuff. I actually didn't purchase anything, though! We had such a great time, even though we missed our sweet boy! He was so happy to see us, and was squealing and waiting at the front door when we got home!!! We had a relaxing day and night, and thanks to Ashlee and Jereme for all of the great suggestions!!! :)

So glad that y'all had a great time and a successful first night away from William! It's refreshing to step out of mommy-mode for a bit, but oh so sweet to return home to our precious children. And that garlic bread looks D-E-L-I-S-H!
